Hannah Faith Notess

I hear: God is Everywhere.
And at once I learn
that first, that strangest
of truths‹the one I can come
only so close to touching‹

the air around me is God-shaped.
And how does God feel, squeezed
like this in the openings and closings
of my hands? I experiment‹push
molecules of divine essence
between clenched fists, elbows, knees

Or, in case he likes it better, I shape
avenues in the air, let God
rush past me, rippling,
making me a rock in His current.
I lie on the floor spread-eagled,
hands gloved out, stretching even my toes
for God to pass in between.
