On average 3 parties per weekend. One Saturday, 5 in one day. My
husband and I divided and conquered and actually made every party that
day, but not without consequences. The kids were a mess, jacked up on
sugar, and convinced for days after, that every moment should be filled
with intense activity. We love celebrating these special moments with
the people we care about. But as a pastor’s family, we are learning
that we love others better if our family is happy and healthy i.e. a
little less frantic.

I have started and stopped and started and stopped the words for this
entry into this fine blog-o-space several times now. I'm actually 32
hours past deadline as this is being written. Brianna & the good
editors of the fine Ruminate publication have not been alerted of the
reasons for my tardiness. It has been a week of trudging through large
task after large task, leaving little to no energy to create anything
near a worthy submission. Still...not alerting the proper authorities
is poor form. My apologies.

 The weekend before last, my fiancé and I made a trip out to our garden plot, and began the happy task of gardening. It was a lot of work breaking up the soil, picking out the weeds and whatnot that had accumulated over the winter, and getting the spring vegetables planted.

Since I began interning at Ruminate, I've talked about it with people. I've heard some call it an "edgy" magazine; others have talked about how it pushes limits. Some make these commnts with bright eyes and smiles, and I am encouraged. Others choose these words tentatively, and I am frustrated. Where is our genuineness?
